Simply put, mobile marketing is a stream-lined version of web marketing.
Mobile marketing is one of the fastest growing areas of web marketing, second only to social media. This is primarily due to the fact that people carry their mobile phones with them all of the time, just like their wallet and keys. And a mobile phone gives the user nonstop connectivity to their customers.
According to a report released by The Kelsey group in February 2009, the number of mobile web users in the United States is expected to grow to 95 million by 2013. That means that more people will be accessing the web by a mobile device than by PC.
The big advantage of mobile marketing is that phone users can connect to the internet on an as-needed basis. This means that wherever people are, and whatever they are doing they can take photos and videos, scribble notes, and schedule appointments. And, people keep up with their social media on their phones.
So how do you harness the power of mobile marketing?
Mobile Websites – To be good at mobile marketing, make sure that your websites are scaled to the mobile phone.
Mobile Click to Call – Add a click to call button on your website or blogs that allows visitors to contact you on your cell phone instantly.
Mobile Search – Submit your business information to Google Places, Bing, Yahoo, Yelp, Yellow Pages, etc. Optimize with mobile phone number, mobile web address, email address, and geographical area of primary business including state name and all nearby zip codes.
Mobile Email – One important aspect of mobile marketing is that you are able to send and receive emails more quickly.
Mobile Text Messaging – Sending and receiving SMS text messaging can be instantaneous.
Mobile Social Networking – Network on your Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc., wherever you are.
QR Code Marketing – A great real estate marketing idea: Install your QR codes on business cards, flyers, online brochures and on the For Sale sign. Link the QR codes to your contact information, virtual tours, your website, social media sites…even a contact form.
Of course, I am sure there are more methods for mobile marketing, these days you are only limited by your imagination. The time to get on board with mobile marketing is NOW…you can’t afford to dismiss ‘millions’ of potential customers.
