For the aggressive guerrilla marketer, the social networking site-Facebook offers a lot of opportunity to get the word out to your friends and creatively reach your prospective clients. 1. Add a Profile

The starting point for your presence on Facebook or any other social networking site, is your profile page. Your profile page is what the public sees. Basically a landing page, this is the page you have the most control over. It is the place where you connect with your friends, sharing links to news, blogs, photos and videos.

One of the most common habits of social networkers  is browsing the profile pages of friends and people they want to learn more about. By connecting to hundreds of friends, colleagues, clients and associates on Facebook,  a guerrilla marketer can drive a TON of traffic to their profile page. It is an important real estate marketing idea to take advantage of that huge opportunity and share your passions, contact info and websites.

2. Set up a Business Page

Pages were launched by Facebook in November 2007 as a way for social networkers promoting their businesses to easily establish a brand presence on Facebook. These days a guerrilla marketers can use pages to engage potential clients by providing relevant, useful information in many different categories;  Books & Magazines, Brands & Products, Companies & Organizations, Movies, Music, People, Sports, etc.  Since there is no limitation on the number of people that ‘like’ your page, business pages are an important real estate marketing idea, and another FREE and easy way to drive traffic to your website or blog.

3. Inviting Friends and ‘Likes’

There are a couple of ways to think about friends:

You just want REAL friends, you only want to interact with people you know. And there is room for that mindset on Facebook. So you type in ‘friends’ and family names in the Facebook Search bar and invite them to join you at Facebook.

Just ask yourself this question…do you only do business with friends and family, or do you ever step out of your comfort zone and do business with a new ‘friend’? If you are in retail, most of the people you do business with are not ‘friends’…as least not at first.

So why not accept all friendship requests? And when Facebook asks you if you know someone and that someone has 25 mutual friends, why not reach out to that person and invite friendship? After all, isn’t that what social networking is all about? That person may be your next ‘best friend’…maybe even your next client.

The advantage of having a lot of friends is that when it comes to inviting your ‘friends’ to ‘like’ you at your Facebook page, it is much easier to get friends to like your business page, at least at first. And the more people that ‘like’ you, the more likely you are to get traffic to your website. When social networking, there are MORE reasons to have a lot of friends, then to NOT have a lot of friends and since Realtors are in the people business, having lots of ‘friends’ is an important real estate marketing idea.
