According to Matt Cutts, Engineer at Google and head of the WebSpam department, “WordPress is a blogging software package, it’s open source and has a ton of plugins.” He further states that “WordPress software is made to do Search Engine Optimization pretty well.”

For small business owners don’t know what a title tag or meta tag is. According to Matt Cuts, “the more time you spend on it, the better you get.”

It’s a good marketing idea to present a Site Map to Google Webmaster so that you can tell google – “these are the URL’s that are important to me”. You are telling google “I have twenty pages and these are the URL’s”. This way you have the best chance of the spiderbots indexing your whole site.

When video marketing, Matt reminds us to remember that search engines still have a problem indexing the spoken word, so you have to tell the spiderbots what the video is about. It may be a good idea to get a transcript, or at least make sure you have a complete description, including the keywords in the video description.

Since the search engines have a problem indexing javascript and flash, so Matt advises you to use flash as the decoration at your website, but have the navigation in html. That makes it easier for the spiderbots to crawl the website.
